About

Rudolf Saathof

In 2009 I received my MSc in Mechanical Engineering at Twente University, faculty of Mechanical Engineering, specialization of Mechanical Automation and Mechatronics. My master thesis was about control of active vibration isolation for high-tech equipment.

In 2013 I got my PhD degree at Delft University of Technology, faculty 3ME, group of Mechatronic Systems Design. My PhD topic was Adaptive Optics for EUV Lithography.

Until 2016 I was post-doc researcher at the Technical University of Vienna, faculty of Electrical Engineering at the Automation and Control Institute (ACIN). Amongst other topics, my research was driven by the application of atomic force microscopy (AFM), vibration isolation and Adaptive Optics for laser satellite communications.

Until 2021 I worked as researcher at TNO-industry, department of Opto-Mechatronics. My research was focused on adaptive optics and turbulence and link modelling for laser satellite communications.

From 2021 I am working at the faculty of Aerospace Engineering, department of Space Engineering. My expertise area is opto-mechatronics for space with (a first) application on laser satellite communications.
